South – Events
The UK Southern Chapter serves the AFCEA community who live and/or work across Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Surrey and Sussex. In covering such a large area of Southern England the chapter does not have an obvious identifiable geographic focal point. It therefore chooses to hold face-to-face events every 3-4 months in iconic venues which are well-served by the road and rail networks, such as the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth and the Gurkha Museum in Winchester. Where possible, the Chapter looks to coordinate its events with the Royal Signals Institution as well as the AFCEA London and UK West Chapters.
Meeting usually take place on the third or fourth Thursday of a month and generally start around 18.30. In addition to a keynote speaker, the meetings typically include an opportunity to appreciate the chosen venue plus a chance to share a meal and a drink with others from across the defence and security sector in an informal atmosphere.
The Chapter’s first meeting of 2022 will take place at the Gurkha Museum in Winchester on Thursday 24 February with Brigadier Dan Cheesman, the Royal Navy’s CTO as keynote speaker. Further dates for the year will be announced in due course.
