AFCEA UK Southern Chapter – February 2022 – Brigadier Dan Cheesman CBE RM, Chief Technology Officer, Royal Navy

AFCEA UK Southern Chapter Event.
With the last AFCEA Southern Chapter event at Spinnaker Tower back in early September 2021 fast becoming a distant memory, we thought that it was time for another get together! We were planning to hold an event in mid-January, but the pre-Christmas arrival of Omicron forced us to hit the pause button. With Covid restrictions now easing, we feel that we can finally launch our next event. We are pleased to announce that next AFCEA Southern Chapter meeting will take place on Thursday 24 February at the Gurkha Museum in Winchester. We are very fortunate to have Brigadier Dan Cheesman CBE RM, the Royal Navy’s CTO, as our guest speaker and his talk is entitled ‘The pace of change and the Royal Navy’. There will also be an opportunity to have a short tour of the Gurkha Museum and to enjoy some delights of Nepalese cuisine, whilst settling into conversation with colleagues from the defence and security sector across the AFCEA Southern Chapter region.
Brig Cheeseman’s presentation will be ranging wide and deep across the modern Royal Navy and its embrace of technology in an exponential world. Topics will include the Integrated Review, digitisation, autonomy in all environments, novel weapons lethality, modularity (Navy PODS), new commercial models, Type 32, Future Commando Force, Future Maritime Aviation Force, augmented reality, additive manufacturing, quantum time and more.
