To mark 2018 as the of Year of Engineering – the London Chapter Young AFCEA Sub-Committee will be hosting an event to inspire the next generation of engineers, as well as promote and create awareness of emerging engineering fields and technologies, specifically; VR, AI and Drones.

Our three guest speakers come from diverse backgrounds and will discuss different aspects of their respective technology fields.  They will be focusing on how these fields present new opportunities but also potential disruption, requiring new ways of thinking and working.  The speakers will also talk about the ‘bigger picture’ implications of AI- including ethics and trust. They will each speak for 15-20 mins before joining a joint Q and A panel session.

Graduate Trainees and Apprentices are welcome to attend at the Student / mil / Gov’t discounted rate.

Elaine Whyte- PwC Drone Lead

Elaine is the head of the UK Drones team.  As a Chartered Engineer, Elaine is driven to unlock the power of drone technology to provide clients with data-driven, logical, robust insights which lead to better business decisions.  After 20 years of service in the Royal Air Force, specialising in aerospace engineering and rising to the rank of Wing Commander, Elaine joined PwC two years ago.

Jeremy Dalton- PwC Virtual Reality (VR) Lead

Jeremy is PwC’s VR/AR Lead, helping clients understand and quantify the benefits of virtual & augmented reality technology. He believes these technologies will play a significant role in how we live and work in the future . He’ll also tell this to anybody who will listen and has spoken at conferences and festivals across the world from SXSW in Austin to the Battle of Ideas in London.

Rob Mccargow– PwC Programme Leader- Artificial Intelligence

Rob is the AI Programme Leader at PwC, where he with works with partners across academia, government, technology vendors and start-ups.  He is an evangelist for responsible technology and promotes awareness of the growing ethical agenda relating to AI. He is an advisory board member of the UK’s Parliamentary Group on AI, an adviser to The IEEE Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in AI and Autonomous Systems and a TEDx speaker.
