Important Health & Safety Note for AFCEA UK Meetings and Events
The fast evolving situation regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is a major concern for any organisation arranging meetings and events where many people will gather in close proximity. The following extract has been taken from Public Health England’s website to create this H&S Note. It is basic common sense, but it does no harm to remind ourselves about some simple personal hygiene precautions. The first bullet regarding avoiding shaking hands with, or embracing, when greeting colleagues / friends is probably the most important and for the foreseeable future should be discouraged at AFCEA UK Meetings and events.
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) – Preventing spread of infection
Public Health England (PHE) recommends that the following general cold and flu precautions are taken to help prevent people from catching and spreading COVID-19:
- Avoid handshakes or embraces when greeting colleagues
- Wash your hands with soap and water often – use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
- Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze. Catch it, Bin it, Kill it
- Put used tissues in the bin straight away
