The New Face of War? A Need to Refresh our Approach to the Digitalisation of our Armed Forces!

The Cyber and C4ISR lessons drawn from the current war in Ukraine, new technologies and the disruption caused by them, and the impact of new nations joining NATO provide a substantial background in the rapidly changing security environment in Europe. The conference aims to reflect the needs of this environment and the influence of the developments in multidomain integration command and control structure will have in the Euro-Atlantic context by discussing:
- Revisited operational requirements & new technologies available for Cyber and C4ISR
- Refreshed procurement processes: Needs and options for new relationships between industry and government
- New solutions and the need for interoperability in the light of Multidomain Operations
- Interoperability of partners and allies, even beyond the military sphere
The conference aims to facilitate a fruitful exchange of ideas and gain insights from military leaders and experts from various nations, NATO representatives and industry who may be highly experienced or rather new to the C4ISR/Cyber domain. It will focus on the contribution that industry, in particular small and medium businesses, can provide to improve the advantages in C4ISR and Cyber operations.
This two-day conference and exposition will feature senior speakers and technical specialists from the UK and other national governments, along with NATO, Industry and academia. The draft programme will be announced shortly, along with invitations for potential speakers to submit abstracts etc.
This event is run and managed by the AFCEA Europe HQ staff based in Brussels, supported by the AFCEA UK Chapters. AFCEA London Chapter – Face to Face Meeting.
The second meeting for our 2023 / 2024 Season, will be held on 9th November, when Air Cdre Ola Fashade – ACOS J6 PJHQ will be our guest speaker. Please note that the date has changed from the usual 1st Thursday of the month. The title of Fash’s presentation and a short abstract will be announced shortly.
PaloAlto are very generously hosting us for the meeting in their new brand new Executive Briefing Suite on the 55th Floor of “Twentytwo”. Not only will we have a great and very topical presentation from Fash, but attendees will also have unparalleled views across the City and beyond during the networking reception afterwards.
Security arrangements will be somewhat different to normal. There is no formal reception desk at the main entrance to the building and guests must take an escalator to the first floor, where the lifts are located. Access is via gated barriers, which require the individual to scan a QR code to open the gate. These codes are unique to the individual. Therefore we will need to provide the building security office with a list of all attendee names and individual email addresses. The access codes will then be sent to you directly from the security office.

AFCEA London Chapter – Face to Face Meeting.
The third meeting for our 2023 / 2024 Season, will take the form of a pre-Christmas Lunchtime Reception. This will be held on Tuesday 12th December in the Battle of Britain Suite in the RAF Club, 128 Piccadilly, London W1J 7PY.
The AFCEA London Chapter used to host an annual Corporate Members’ lunch many years ago, so we thought it worth trying a similar format again. There will be no formal speaker presentation, other than a few words of welcome from the Chapter President, along with some Parish Notices.The purpose of the reception is to provide senior executives from our Corporate Membership and invited guests from MoD and Other Government Departments, with an opportunity to network with like-minded individuals in an informal environment. It is an ideal opportunity for our regular Industry attendees to invite their CEO and/or CIO along, who may not be familiar with AFCEA. Those who aren’t already AFCEA Individual or Corporate Members are most welcome to attend. Committee members will be circulating during the lunch, with some very persuasive reasons as to why you should join, or, in some cases, re-join!
