Delivering Software to the Warfighter to Ensure Mission Success

It has been said that “Software is eating the world” and this is reflected in our everyday environment as evidenced by John Lewis, who consider themselves a software company and noting that NETFLIX only exists in a virtual world.  How does Defence operate securely, assuredly and ethically in such an environment?  More pertinently, how does the Royal Signals get on the front foot when operating, delivering and maintaining capability whose software systems are secure by design, ethically constructed and provisioned at a pace which will deliver new software into the hands of the Warfighter to ensure mission success?

An RSI Seminar addressing the above issues will be held on 21st November at the London headquarters of the National Cyber Security Centre 1020hrs -1630hrs.  Speakers will include senior representatives from MOD, the NCSC and leading companies from Industry such as Microsoft, IBM, ESRI etc.

Date: 21 Nov 2019
Time: 10:20 start
Venue: National Cyber Security Centre, Nova South, 160 Victoria St, London, SW1E 5LB

AFCEA London Chapter Corporate Networking Reception

Our December meeting will take the form of a pre-Christmas networking & social function and we would encourage our regular Corporate attendees to invite their senior management along. These events are always popular, so book early as space is limited.

Please note the change of day and date, in order to de-conflict with another event which is on the 5th December.

Andy Wire – Director at Montvieux
“The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Based Cyber Arms Race: Detecting And Countering Adaptive Threats”

This talk will introduce a new class of cyber threats that are able to dynamically and autonomously shape-shift to defeat current defences – so called “adaptive threats”. The talk will highlight where Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques can respond to these threats, both from detecting attack behaviours and predicting attack behaviours, but also ultimately autonomously defending networks. On this new and automated battlefront, the talk will highlight why (and how) the role of the human analysis must change.
